DOG THROWN AWAY LIKE TRASH BUT IS RESCUED - “He climbed up my arm and onto my shoulder and just started licking. And I just melted.”
EDIT: It turns out that the man who “found” Eddie was actually his owner. He made up this story because he was scared of having to pay fees for surrendering his dog. Thanks to insanitywithasmirk for the info.
A Terrier mix named Eddie was put into a plastic bag and was thrown into a trash bin in Nebraska. A man who was visiting from New York heard a whimper and discovered Eddie. He was treated at the Nebraska Humane Society and named Eddie because his underbite makes him look like TV character Eddie Munster. An award has been offered to find the person(s) who did this to Eddie. Read more from omaha.com:
Harrison, 30, is a New Yorker visiting family in Omaha. He was getting his truck washed near 72nd and Maple Streets when he went to throw out his trash.
Inside the can there was a black trash bag. That bag moved and whimpered.
Harrison ripped open the bag and found a frightened little dog.
“When I picked him up, he just immediately started licking,” Harrison said. “He climbed up my arm and onto my shoulder and just started licking. And I just melted.”
Harrison turned it over to authorities.
The Humane Society is offering $1,000 for information that could lead to an arrest in the case. Those with information should call 402-444-7800, ext. 1.
With temperatures rising to the mid-80s, being trapped in a plastic bag in a garbage can is likely to have killed the dog.
Let’s hope Eddie recovers soon and is adopted into a great family. Click here for the full story and here for more about the Nebraska Humane Society (Photo from their Facebook page)
